For the last two weeks, we have had “Thankful Thursday.” Each Thursday, the Student Council and some of our staff members hop on to social media to share what we are thankful for, accompanied by some cheerful photos! I am delighted to say that we have had many people sharing what they are thankful for in the comments. Remembering the things that you enjoy and the things you are grateful for is an excellent way to maintain a positive attitude when times are tough. Over the last two weeks, we have seen that there are still so many things to enjoy while we are all stuck at home. We encourage everyone to start their own Thankful Thursday and look out for ours on the school Facebook page.
Last Friday, May 14, we had our second virtual spirit day: Tie Dye and Concert T shirt Day. Students and staff participated by emailing a photo of themselves to school administration or sending them to the Student Council Instagram. This spirit day saw more participation than the first one, and we hope that this enthusiasm continues to grow.
This week will be our first environmental challenge! Inspired by the beautiful weather and spring growth, we challenge you to go outside and take a picture of a plant. This can be your favourite spring flower or, better yet, a plant you do not recognize. Can you find out what it is called? Students and staff have all week to complete this task and can send in their photos just like they do with spirit days by sending them to the Student Council Instagram. Just remember to not touch any plants that you are unfamiliar with as they could be irritants to the skin or trigger allergies. Our planet has so many beautiful things to discover; we hope to encourage everyone to get outside and be curious about the world around them.
